LANCASHIRE EMOTIONAL HEALTH IN SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES

Resources for Parents
We know that an important way in which schools and colleges can support pupils is by working together with parents and carers, and sharing information about how they can help support and promote good mental health for their children.

Lancashire County Council has commissioned and funded Lancashire Emotional Health in School and Colleges and a range of videos and written resources have been developed that take some of the key ideas from our schools training and present them in ways that parents and carers can use at home.

VIDEO: Understanding Mental Health This video features Stacey talking through some ways in which we can better understand mental health in ourselves and our children, and what kinds of things affect our mental health.  We hope that you will find the resources below helpful parent and pupil feedback is welcome.

VIDEO: Promoting Resilience The video features Anna outlining what resilience and resiliency skills are, and talking through a model of resilience and how parents could improve resiliency skills in their child.

There is also a written handout to accompany the videos with some ‘top tips’ that parents and carers can try to support their child. You can view and download this here.

The Mental Health Family Hour Webinars

Our families are offered free online webinar each week for pupils and their families. The aim of the sessions will be to inform the listeners about mental health, how to cope throughout this period and explore different subject areas in regards to this topic. Mental health issues are going to affect a large number of people throughout this pandemic. Sessions are aimed to help people learn to cope.  It will also create a good opportunity for people to talk about these issues, therefore hopefully leading people into speaking about how they really feel.  Below is a pre-recorded session on Anxiety.
